Date Night: Homemade Korean Burrito

Hello. Andrew here. This blog is is something I’ve been thinking of doing for awhile, yet had no time/motivation to actually start. Finally with some inspiration from Tiffany, I was able to start this with her.

Date night at home. Food.. who can live without food? Not us for sure. For the first food post is something that touches more at home for me. Korean food? Yes.. but how about Korean fusion? Sure, why not?! :)

Here's a simple take on a burrito/spring roll but with Korean BBQ fillings. Bulgogi (marinated beef) and Daeji Bulgogi (marinated pork) were our choice of meat for these concoctions.

Ingredients:

  • Meat 
  • Kimchi
  • Avocados 
  • Cilantro
  • JalapeƱos 
  • Potatoes 
  • Grilled 
  • Onions
  • Limes




What gets cooked?: I cooked the cooked the meat naturally in their marinade using a pan over the stovetop. While cooking the meats, I also started to caramelize the onions.



I also cooked the kimchi. Cooking the kimchi gives it an even deeper flavor while also bringing out more flavors from the other ingredients. I believe that the cooked kimchi’s texture will go well with the other ingredients in this “burrito”.










































I also added potatoes to give it a little bit of a California kick (reference California Burrito). Yet, I gave these potatoes an Asian zing. How did I do that? I seasoned the potatoes with salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and also curry powder. BAM!


The rest of ingredients were just chopped and placed into a bowl for your viewing pleasure.

Self Serve Concept. Who’s been to a Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt? Why? Because I love the self serve concept they have. You get as much as you want and when you want. Sometimes, I overfill these burritos and can not wrap them, but they’re still very enjoyable. I do not recommend overfilling as it gets messy and difficult to consume, so spread your toppings evenly.

THE BEGINNING

Welcome to the wondrous world of two, Andrew and Tiffany, who have come together with the passion to share with the world a little part of their lives.

What is our mission? 
To create a joint outlet for our creativity within the areas of food, adventures, and dating in hopes of reaching out to anyone and everyone who has a taste for good food, is down for new adventures, and is curious of what "dating" even means nowadays.

And why is this blog called "Actions Speak Louder than Talks" anyways? 
It originated from a little ol' fortune from a fortune cookie Andrew had saved. (See attached photo for reference.) And besides, everything sounds funnier when written in Engrish, right? No...? Never mind. Thanks for stopping by!
